With a background in dairy husbandry, the last eight years of a 33 year career in ADAS was spent as head of the dairy business. Recent activities include director and later the policy adviser to the RABDF, and coordinator of the Industry/Defra farm health planning cattle working group. He is currently Hon Sec of the Shropshire Chamber of Agriculture and a member of, and contributor to, the publications committee of the Society of Dairy Technology.  John is the current secretary of the Dairy Science Forum.
